What are next steps with vetting?

The vetting info for this pup/cat is below.  Please do not let them around other pets (unless you know the other pets have been vaccinated) until your dog/cat has received its final shots.  (For a puppy, that will be after the 3rd set of shots.)  Even if you take them to the vet, I recommend carrying them while at the vet, if possible.

** Please note that if your pet still needs vetting, we use ParkPlace Pet Hospital in Southlake at 817-488-9199.  Call soon to schedule a spay/neuter, as they book out quickly.  Let me know when the appointments are so that we can authorize them. If a female is in heat, we must reschedule their spay.

What do I do to do with the dog tag and microchip?

Your pup has a tag with my information. Just keep it until you get a tag of your own. This is just a precaution in case they get out. Once you get your own tag, you can throw mine away. Your rescue is chipped. Please change the chip with this link if it's an AANT dog (Select the “Nano Chip”). If it's a Ninja Paw, the rescue will change the chip.

What am I supposed to feed my dog?

I feed Purina One Sensitive Skin & Coat Formula.  You can read the bag instructions for serving sizes.  It is wise to slowly introduce what you want to feed them so that it does not upset their tummies.

Do you recommend crating?

I always recommend a crate.  Most dogs like their crate as it gives them a place of their own.  Even the best dogs can get into mischief while not being watched.  Make their crate a place where they feel comfortable and get rewarded.  Please give them a special treat, toy, or kong when they go in their crate so they associate the crate with positivity.

What about heartworm preventative?

Please make sure you keep them on heartworm preventative.  Here is a link for more affordable options.
